Concrete: What Homeowners Should Expect
At Avante we know that your driveway is like the welcome mat to your home, so it's important that it makes a positive statement by providing a durable and attractive surface for you and your guests. It's also important that you have a good understanding of what's reasonable and obtainable when it comes to buying your concrete driveway.
As a homeowner:
| 1) |
You have the right to expect your concrete driveway to present a clean, attractive appearance and to serve with little or no main tenance for many years. |
| 2) |
You can reasonably expect the edges of the driveway to be straight and level, the surface of the driveway to have a consistent texture and appearance, and for joints to be installed at the proper spacing and depth to control random cracking. |
| 3) |
With regard to materials and workmanship, you will receive a driveway that contains a quality concrete mix that is handled, placed, finished and cured according to recognized industry specifications. |
| 4) |
The driveway should be laid out according to your plans, and it should have a minimum, consistent thickness of at least 4 inches. |
Avante:
| 1) |
has a right for the project to be clearly defined so that a proper proposal can be prepared. |
| 2) |
If you make changes in the project, no matter how small they may seem to you, Avante has a right to adjust the proposal. |
| 3) |
Avante expects to be paid in a timely manner and in full. |
| 4) |
Even when Avante has followed all the proper guidelines and procedures, cracking can occur. While proper jointing procedures
will control cracking in the vast majority of cases, even properly jointed concrete can crack in places other than the joints. No
one can guarantee that concrete won't crack however, we do everything we can to prevent stray cracks. Homeowners need to
understand that such cracks are not indications of serious problems in most cases. Most of these cracks are simply unplanned
joints - they are no more a threat to long-term service and durability than the joints that were intentionally installed. Avante is not
responsible for random cracking. |
| 5) |
Colored concrete can vary and therefore we cannot guarantee your new concrete will exactly match the color from a brochure
or sample. Even in plain concrete, there can be color variations, especially if your project requires more than one load of
cocrete, or if concrete placements are made on different days. These slight variations almost never indicate a problem with the
concrete. Most of these variations are minor and most will fade over time, but they can and do occur. Avante is not responsible
for color variations. |
